IBM has announced its acquisition of Software AG’s enterprise integration platforms, StreamSets, and webMethods, for a substantial €2.13 billion. This move aims to fortify IBM’s capabilities in artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud services.
The StreamSets and webMethods platforms, integral components of Software AG’s Super Ipaas business launched in October, provide a suite of functionalities, including application integration, API management, and data integration. This acquisition positions IBM to enhance its offerings in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-driven solutions and hybrid cloud environments.
Software AG’s majority owner, private equity firm Silver Lake, holding a commanding 93.3% stake in the German software company, supports this transformative deal. Christian Lucas, the head of the supervisory board of Software AG, expressed optimism about the collaborative potential, stating, “The opportunity to bring the StreamSets and webMethods teams together with IBM to innovate in creating the future of hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence solutions for enterprises is unique.”
The transaction, valued at €2.13 billion, is contingent upon regulatory approvals and is anticipated to conclude in the second quarter of 2024. As IBM continues to solidify its position as a leader in cutting-edge technology solutions, this acquisition underscores its commitment to advancing AI and hybrid cloud capabilities for enterprises worldwide.
